August 15th 2001: It's been a while since I wrote in this journal. I have no excuse except I didn't really know what I wanted to share with you all. I have been singing on "the road" and I love it so very much. The people I meet in the churches, women's conferences and festivals are such a blessing to me. Not just as a visiting artist, but also as a fellow human being that has struggles every day. I get to share in their Christian walk a bit and learn from their witness of Jesus. I have seen that no matter how bad I think I have it at times, there are always so many other stories that break my heart or humble me to the bone. As Christians we aren't exactly the most loved and understood in today's world. This is nothing new if we stop and remember Jesus' talk with the disciples in John 15:15-27. I have always loved this whole chapter. To me it always reminds me of how much Jesus is aware of our lives and what He is leaving us to face. I am so glad that this is not my home. Yet He did choose you and I to be His witnesses and servants. Of course He didn't leave us here to struggle alone. In verse 26, He says, "When the counselor comes...." and I say, thank you lord. Thank you again for the Word and the sweet Holy Spirit.
